Our New Hampshires are from the imported German Line. After much of the poultry in Germany was depleted after WWII, the US sent over many of our American chicken breeds to repopulate the German countryside. The Germans have stayed active in breeding exhibition poultry while in this country many breeds and exhibition poultry in general fell by the wayside with the development of the CornishX broilers for meat and various Sex Linked Hybrids for eggs. Several years ago the New Hampshire was imported back into this country in all it's glory. The result is a superb dual purpose chicken; very quick to size and excellent layers. These birds are absolutely stunning in the sun and a feast for the eyes.
