We currently have first through eighth generation Olive Eggers. We breed for colorful hens also, and have used Gold and Silver Welsummers, Lavender, Isabel and Wheaten Ameraucanas and Blue, Black and Splash Copper Marans in our breeding. You can hatch chicks in any of these colors. As with all colored eggs the color is variable according to the egg cycle of the hen. The eggs shown are some of the peak colored eggs of Olive Eggers. Two of our four pens of Olive Eggers are Olive Egger males over Olive Egger hens. These males have two copies of the peacomb gene which is linked to the blue egg gene. This insures that all the offspring from these pens will lay Olive and not brown. It is difficult or impossible to find anyone who breeds for all Olive layers after the first generation. We do have two project pens of Olives crossed back to Welsummers and Marans, and these will hatch 50% Olive Layers and 50% Brown Layers. These will be 20% or less of your order as the majority of eggs will come from the Olive x Olive pens.
